Northern Ireland was the only region in the UK to experience an increase in house purchase loans in Q4 2011, according to data just published by the Council of Mortgage Lenders in Northern Ireland.
There were 2,500 house purchase loans worth £240m advanced in the final quarter of last year, up 4% by number and value from the previous quarter. Compared to Q4 2010, the figures are up 4% by number and unchanged by value.
